Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training (RDAT) (Western Region), Mumbai, under Directorate General of Employment & Training (DGE&T), Ministry of Labour & Employment was set up in September 1967 as to improve Skills and Apprenticeship Training and ensure effective integrated development and monitoring of these programmes in Western Region. (Maharashtra , Gujarat & Goa).
The National Policy of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, 2015 launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 15thJuly 2015, focuses on Apprenticeship as one of the key programmes for creating skilled workforce in India. Recognizing the value of on-the-job training, efforts are underway to make apprenticeship an integral part of all skill development efforts. Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India, for the states of Maharashtra and Goa, old RDAT (WR) is renamed as “Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDE) Maharashtra”, Mumbai from December 2018.
RDSDE Maharashtra, Mumbai, under the Regional Director, is headquartered at Sion (E), Mumbai with inclusion of Three Central Field Institutes (CFIs) viz, 1) National Skill Training Institute, Sion (E), Mumbai, 2) National Skill Training Institute (Women), Dadar (W), Mumbai 3) National Skill Training Institute (Women), Farmagudi Ponda, Goa under its jurisdiction.
